ABA/VB in Tower Hamlets?

Hi

Just wondering if there are any other families in Tower Hamlets who are doing an ABA or VB programme?

I have just begun the statementing process with a view to obtaining funding and I'm already overwhelmed by it all, so it would be good to chat to you if you're in a similar boat.

Have you tried posting on ABA-UK Yahoo chat forum too?
Very helpful.

Good luck.

Yes. No joy so far.
Surely I can't be the only one in the borough doing this stuff?!

You can't be, no!
Are you envisaging problems? (Probably)

A good start could be a Freedom if Information request to LEA to see how many other programmes they have funded.

Have you gathered your evidence and started a home programme?

Yes it's been running for about 5 months now and it's going really well.

Thanks for that tip Moondog - I will look into making that request to the LEA.

Definitely envisaging problems as all the professionals in the borough have alluded that ABA is the devil's work. And that since they're broke and losing jobs, they have no money to dole out to one family!

Pipin, look at my links.

Prepare to spend most of your free (hah!) time gathering evidence.
Ask them for their evidence that what they have works.

Hi, we're doing VB with ds, and are right in the middle of stat assessment - we're asking for full funding for the programme. We're in borough of Southwark, so can't offer any experience of Tower Hamlets, but feel free to pm me with anything you want to know, am happy to share info about how we're doing it Smile

Btw we were fed the line about our LA not funding ABA. Don't let it put you off. Firstly, it is against the SENCoP to have a blanket policy, as statements are given according to need, not resources. Secondly, it's possibly not true anyway. Our consultant told us of a family very near us who had their programme funded! They might just not officially call it ABA, that's all.

PipinJo - good luck. Let us know how it goes.

Bialy - I will PM you as your experience will be useful to learn from.

Moondog - thanks for the links which I will take a look at.
