Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

WTF are they playing at?

Head of ds's unit emailed earlier to say he had had a letter from the LEA saying that "I have not expressed a preference for post 16 placement at the unit to be named in part 4 of ds?s Statement" and a reply slip for the school.

I am assuming the LEA are going to name the unit on ds's proposed amended statement despite the fact the LIO, the Ed psych and the school all being in agreement that they can't meet his needs.

I suppose it's a positive in a way as once it's named I can move onto appeal and if they are going to name the unit then they acknowledge mainstream college isn't right and in our LEA ds's unit is the best placement they have for ASD without SLD and ds has 1 to 1 support on top so Independent SS is the logical next step.

Any thoughts anyone? or have the LEA taken leave of their senses?

well of course you haven't expressed a preference for the unit you don't want him to go to Hmm It sounds like they are just trying to persuade you to agree to something you don't want as a last attempt before they name the unit on the statement. Have you writen to them with your objections and told them which school you would like? It makes you wonder why they bother employing and paying all these professionals just to ignore their professional opinion! I'm in a similar position, it's no fun.

sounds like they are taking the easy option (for them!), and waiting to see if you fight the placement or not. Hmm. good luck with getting this sorted.
