DS has just made advances towards an unfortunate homeless lady sitting on the bench outside pre-school. Not unusual in young children except (face-blindless?) he was convinced it was my sister. Just as well she wasn't passing Grin

Nice of him though, she was happy to have his attention.

On the down side he has really taken against babies. He isn't a hitter at home or in pre-school but if he sees younger siblings or children when we are out at the weekends he goes for them Shock

Very embarrasing.

my DD2 is almost 20 months and she has strong likes/dislikes of people which is very embarrassing at times. We attend the CDC weekly and there is a kid there whose parents she cannot stand, everytime they walk past her or look at her she screams and tantrums! Any other parents she is ok with! She also dislikes one of the physio ladies which is a bit awkward.

When one of my friends came into our home one day she smiled at DD2 and DD burst into hysterical tears screaming and thrashing around. How do you explain "Sorry she doesnt like you!" other kids and people she really likes, like you mostly the people you dont want her to like! lol

The 'being convinved it was your sister' sounds like things are going to be challenging for you.....

Is there anything that can be done for face-blindness?

MADABOUTTHEBOY2000 · 28/03/2011 12:20

ahhh my ds really hates babies and small toddlers but he says (hes 10) its because there so noisy(like he isnt lol) and smelly he is very sensitive to smell and noise though it is embarrasing when were out in shops ect and literally shouts out agghh disgusting he does the same with anyone ginger too Blush as i made the mistake of having cathrine tate on he came from playroom and saw her ginger refuge sketch and has never forgotten it, dont you wish a hole would open up sometimesConfused

Oh that's all interesting, thank you.

I don't know much about the face-blindness to be honest. The first time it happened DS mistook the pre-school teacher's DD who was there once for my DD because they are of a similar height, build and hair style / colour.

Bet you are much more careful now MADABOUT Shock

lol umm yep awkward as my other two are teens so tend to say and do things you really dont want him repeating/watching and he follows older ds about like a shadow, you just never know what he will pick up on next chatting to PP she says its because he probably likes the sounds if certain words as he emphasises on them when he likes them trouble is its not always words you want him repeating, which reminds me of another funny story when he was 2 he would count cars just learning and only counted to two now and again so id be pushing him in his buggy and he'd shout out 1 car, two cars but keep going back to 1 car imagine how that sounds to a passer by 1 car Blush how many nasty looks and tuts of oh how disgusting

ds2 loves men & teenage boys but not very keen on women.
Our neighbour is so lovely & kind and always speaks to him, he just stares at her, her husband comes out and ds2 is all smiles and waves.

Any male over the age of 13 gets his undivided attention if the like it or not!
He mostly refuses to speak to females unless he knows them very well.

He also does not like babies, he just hides from them.

FlaminGreatGallah · 28/03/2011 21:27

I am desperately trying to find the key to the dislike of babies. Forty this year and have to make my mind up quick smart about trying for a third. This latest development is not good Sad

Mind you, DS is starting school in September...

anon my DS first started getting interested in older men more than anyone else too.
