Hi all, now we have the DLA hurdle over with ive been advised by CDC to look into grants for sensory equipment and perhaps a holiday (as very diffifuclt for us to get away together). Ive heard of Family Fund and Merlins Magic Wand but are there any others out there that you mummies have heard of/had success with?

many thanks

The Family fund is an excellent charity and together with providing vouchers for a family holiday they sometimes also help with equipment/household items too.
While you're on line check the Cerebra web site, you can subscribe to their newsletter and that's packed with lote of useful info. They also make some grants available for equipment.

The following are good organisations to have a look at.
www.cerebra.org.uk/
www.cafamily.org.uk/
www.edcm.org.uk/ ( site down at present as I post )
www.fledglings.org.uk/
www.crelling.com/

there are many more but these are a few that I personally have found very useful over the past ten years or so.
Good luck x

In Scotland there is Take A Break which is administered by family fund, however other mums from my ds school have had both so ive recently applied still waiting to hear. Also in scotland not sure about everywhere else in UK, you can get £150 from social work this is for A Carers Break.

Do you apply for Take A Break and A Carers Break through the FF?
hotmamalovespavlova
I will ask the council.

2006hildy go online google take a break and download application form online. You will see the magazine but scroll down until you see take a break scotland shows they do grants for holidays etc. Send asap as far as i know they end the grants at end of march i only sent mine about week n half ago. The carers break you have to ask your social worker about you are entitled to it every 2nd year. They give you £150 towards a day out or wee break etc.
