i am going to try and get family fund because of ds.

Trouble is i dont know what to ask for and what i can have, i have looked in the archives and people have asked for washing machines etc but all our appliances are quite new, also we have a holiday booked and the dla award has just paid for it

What can i tell them i need it for, can anyone advise me

TIA

It is for something that you need for him specifically but can't afford I think.

well, i have been wanting to sort the front garden out and have a proper fence built so in the summer he can play in it and i dont have to worry about him running off or being picked on by other kids, also he has demolished our back door gate and has kicked a lot of wood out of the back door, he is also desperate for a new computer-one of his obsessions and has wrecked a lot of his clothes, would this qualify?

what about dd, she currently receives low rate care DLA, we are appealing against it though as she has eczema and asthma and development delay, would i be able to claim for her does anyone know?
TIA

Iv heard you can claim for clothes and doing the garden up for security/play. I would just ask anyway they granted 2 of my requests and told me no for the third, as i didn't know what you could ask for or how much.HTH

you can request clothes for dd due to her eczema. the proper ezcema sleepsuits approved by dr atherton at GOSH can cost upto 35pounds i think. you really need 2-3 on the go at once with eczema. they are really good and the 1st time my dd1 wore one she slept through the night for the 1st time since she could scratch.(about 6 weeks old she used to rub her face on blankets and amke it sore)

Apply for a holiday anyway, will give you spending money, also clothes, and you can also apply to make your garden safe.

madmummyof2 · 24/10/2005 14:25

you can apply for holidays???? wow!

what do you do though (sorry to hijack but i have only heard of family und via MN recently)
do i choose the holiday and ask for funding or simply say we want a holiday and they offer an amount towards it??

spooklymieow · 24/10/2005 14:26

you normally get 350 towards a holiday, you can use it for any sort of holiday you choose

madmummyof2 · 24/10/2005 14:29

why have i never heard of this before?? lol

is there a limit to what you can ask for at a time? i mean how many things you can get in a year etc.

spooklymieow · 24/10/2005 14:33

YOu can ask for as many items as you feel you need, I asked for lots last year and got it all, I asked for clothing and hoilday this year and got that. You can only apply once a year.

I was really dissapointed after applying to family fund, even though I have recieved help before, this time I was refused because I was slightly over the £25,000 income but this was only due to receiving a very small amount of housing benefit.

Yep they now take hb into account which sucks when you happen to live in expensive area

lot of other areas my house rent for £800 a month here it's half as much again
