Hi i was just after a little advice!

My ds 6 has various issues and the one we are having problems with at the moment is pain and inflamation of his joints.
He has a weekly skills exercise class at school and he is coming home after in agony with stiff sore inflamed joints this pain lasts days and results with him being up most of the night in pain, now with him also having traits of asd he doesnt cope with pain very well and also stopping the skills class at school is a big issue as he would absolutely flip out!
I give him ibuprofen and calpol when bad and also do masages and warm baths to help but these dont seem to help?

Anybody else got any ideas of what i could do to help the pain? im making an appointment with our gp to see what else can be done for him or what else i can give him to help!

im just frustrated and want to take his pain away!

Thanks claire x

If his joints are becoming visibly inflamed I think he will need to be investigated for J. Arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Does he have hypermobile joints as well, it this case he could have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome or Benign Joint hypermobility, when he is excercising he is hurting the joints as the joints are not help robustly enough by his connective tissues. This can cause permanent joint damage.

Start with the gp, then ask for a referral to a rheumatologist, who will do a clinical examination, blood tests, maybe xrays or scans and be able to help with pain management too.
