Off on long-awaited holiday in May to USGrin.

Dd2 is hypermobile & tires very easily & uses a loaned mclaren major. But we are reluctant to take it with us,for a few reasons-damage in transit, carrying footplate & sunshade seperately IYSWIM.

So was thinking of buying a cheap second-hand buggy from ebay to take with us.

Can anyone recommend a standard umbrella buggy, that would fit a 4 yr old in???

A maclaren or a chicco stroller (have used both and found them easy to use and small to fold up), dd2 (5 next week) still fits in her maclaren (with a squeeze).

not umbrella fold but folds with ease one handed baby jogger city mini. think maclaren xlr and xt are quite big. you may get 2nd hand bargain.

have a lovely time- sounds fab

Have a great time. I would take it with you though. The footplate and sunshade could go in the suitcase.

If you're really worried about damage you could maybe insure it with FISH Insurance. They do wheechair cover and for Luuk's almost £3000 chair we pay £25 and it covers travel.

At least then your daughter can have use of a pushchair you know she will be comfy in.

Have fun

My DS1, a large 4 year old, still fits into his Maclaren Triumph, which i think is pretty much the lightest buggy you can get (not with him in it!) Perfect for travel

Would also recommend Maclaren Triumph - DS1 who is nearly 4 still fits in it. We specifically bought it to go on holiday with.
