Hi Carrot, you have been missed. I was starting to worry if you were ok. Hope things settle down for you soon, do come and rant/vent or sob on us whenever you need to - always happy to lend an ear/shoulder - whatever's needed.
My news is that, as per my other thread, ds1 is struggling with something to do with his eyes - not sight exactly, but definitely something very odd going on. On top of that he's come home from school this afternoon and reported a combination of red and black poos, which doesn't sound at all good - especially when coupled with his current ghostly white complexion.
Finally received his dx report this afternoon. Honestly, what a waste of paper! It basically says he meets the WHO ICD-10 criteria for a dx of Aspergers and that they felt he has significant sensory and motor issues as well, which would be assessed separately by the OT dept. (That was done a couple of weeks ago and they not only turned around the report in less than a week, they also amended it at my request within 48 hrs - as opposed to 6 weeks for the ASD Assessment Unit to write 2 sides of A4, most of which is a title page and list of professionals involved!
)
They've managed to state that the EP has been working with the school towards Statutory Assessment (er no ... I brought in the EP due to anxiety issues) and that the school should continue to monitor and support his educational, social and communication difficulties in accordance with SENCOP and the Inclusion Development Programme (Teachernet). Finally they recommended we attend the local support group we are already signed up for and that we buy some books by 'Patricia Tanguay' on NVLD - only her name is actually Pamela Tanguay!
So, I have a week to ask for any changes or additions - anyone have any ideas on what I should definitely make sure is on the dx report? We were told that the dx report would include reports from all the professionals involved in the assessment process, so how we ended up with less than a page of stuff acutally about ds is beyond me.
On a more positive note, ds2 seems a lot better and dh's Zombie party - at which I was introduced to some absolutely gorgeous, if ridiculously strong, types of gin (we held it in a gin parlour
) which get you very drunk, very fast but without a trace of a hangover the next day - was an absolute blast!
I had lots of fun making the grave cake, zombie hand and headstone along with a few dozen cupcakes complete with chocolate gravestones, marzipan zombie hands and entrail buttercream.
