WOW -This woman has my total respect and support for what she's doing. I think its amazing she has the strength and capability to lobby for disabled rights aswell as look care for her DD and other children too.
I feel humbled by her story and disgusted by the absolute lack of support she's getting.
and so lucky that we do get respite.

jardy · 02/03/2011 21:13

Thank you Agnes for doing this.Riven is incredible and it is amazing and humbling to listen to her.
Why do some families get so much more respite, residential places etc etc and yet this poor family, and bearing in mind Riven has MS,gets comparatively little. It is very unjust Angry

Agnesdipesto · 02/03/2011 21:18

She's great. However I should have posted a warning about the bigot lady who rang in and suggested riven should have aborted her chid or rejected her so as not to impose a burden on the taxpayer. Although i do wonder if that was a set up.....
Also riven is first Half hour in case people are scrolling through

Thanks Agnesdipesto. It's great hearing about the fantastically brave person who introduced me to MN. I thought it was all perfect parenting, pregnancy and helicopter parents. Didn't realise there was a great SEN community I could have done with finding years ago. My DS who has ASD is 11 now, DXed 8 years ago and in MS, so I've only a handful of other mums in my boat who understand.

Tomorrowslookingfine · 02/03/2011 23:43

Thanks for posting,
I cant even tell you how shocked and disgusted I am by that old bat that assumes she is speaking for all viewers with her idiotic opinions!!
What a bitch!

lisad123isasnuttyasaboxoffrogs · 02/03/2011 23:51

pretty sure it wasnt set up, the lady that rang in is known to alot of us on MN, she is a horrible nasty person. They knew what sort of person she was when she arranged for her to call in!

Thruaglassdarkly · 03/03/2011 01:05

I cried my eyes out in the car listening to Riven...:-((( She has my utmost respect. What a woman!

Debs75 · 03/03/2011 10:15

That was an awful thing to suggest as if I remember correctly Rivens DD's disability was caused at birth so she couldn't of aborted.

shazian · 03/03/2011 10:39

What an amazing woman Riven is.To have MS herself, care for DD as well as 3 other DC. SS and government should be ashamed of themselves for the lack of services available to families living and coping with SEN children. I wasnt aware of MN before Rivens story and i have to say has been a godsend to me to know there are lots of others out there living in my world. What an inspiration Riven is, do so hope she gets the much needed help she sooo deserves.

mumgoingcrazy · 03/03/2011 12:06

I thought that was a brilliant interview, Riven is doing so much good work. How she finds the strength and energy I do not know, but amazing.

As for that STUPID STUPID ignorant woman I am seething, she needs to be put down!! At least she had no answer when she was asked what would happen to her rejected baby and who would pay for it! Idiot Angry

ouryve · 03/03/2011 12:48

Just listening to that bloody woman at 28 minutes and trying to scrape my jaw off the floor. What a cold, callous bitch.

sickofsocalledexperts · 03/03/2011 16:20

Go Riven - you are helping us all by being brave enough to stick your head above the parapet and do all this great lobbying! It is a very long time since a story about a disabled child has made it onto the News at 10 as lead item - I used to work in PR, and you are a star!

bigcar · 03/03/2011 17:38

so was that bigotted woman ck, the style seemed familiar? I hope riven had some warning before she was on that this would happen. Riven and the other lady did brilliantly! Shame the recording I listened to cut off in the middle of the nappy discussion, anyone hear the rest? I hope riven got the support she needed when her dd had the big seizure, she'd normally have come on here Sad

HelensMelons · 03/03/2011 17:55

Yes, I think it was her bigcar, there was a thread in chat yesterday about this, she is an ex mnetter.

I didn't hear the interview but hope all is well with Riven.

Triggles · 03/03/2011 18:01

It was certainly interesting. DH & I sat and listened in horror to that dreadful woman that called in. Awful!

But a lot of good points were made, especially that people shouldn't HAVE to be fighting and dragging in their MPs in order to get respite care (and other things) taken care of. I agree there should be a national standard of care, and it should be a lot higher than it currently is, considering how much money family carers save the government over residential and carers costs.

wraith · 03/03/2011 18:49

well done riven

shazian · 03/03/2011 22:38

Angry just listened to full interview, only listened to half before. What an absolute disgrace of a woman, im furious. How Riven composed herself to speak to 'that' i'll never know. OMG is she really for real. I just really hope that none of her children ever have any kind of accident that might leave them disabled or god help them!! Reject indeed i actually feel sick. Never mind what goes aroud comes around, i believe in karma. cold hearted, callous hitler in the making Angry

That horrible should be put down. Stupid, stupid nasty witch. I am still listening with tears dripping down my face.

SparkleRainbow · 04/03/2011 19:16

Oh Riven, you are an inspiration. May you and your beautiful family be saved from having to listen to stupid ignorant repulsive......gits such as that woman.

I am having my own little fight with the LA for disabled rights for dc, and I am inspired to continue by the strength you show. xx
