Leonie! I was wondering about you the other day :)! yes, I am a yank, AND I was with you on the Sept 08 thread.

I'm here because N (born in Sep08) is very speech delayed and has a few odd behaviors and is being checked for ASD.

What's brought you round these parts?

I feel better seeing a familiar mner too.

I know, it's sad we're here. Oh well, I don't know what exactly what they are really assessing for besides his speech delay and ASD.

I took N to see a speech therapist last year and she told me she didn't think he was on the AS despite his delay etc.

Then we took him to Texas and they said he was a 'quirky kid' handed me a book and left me to it.

The NHS SALT thinks he's on the AS so now we begin this process and I just don't know what to expect, how to prepare.

i'm crying. i haven't stopped for like 10 months. but it's more because i don't know whats going on and i don't want to lose any more time with my boy. the quicker we can communicate the quicker we'll be happy.

eandz, I got a bit emotional reading your last post above, it brought me right back. Be gentle with yourself. It will be easier once you have a diagnosis (I know that sounds strange, but it is usually a relief), and with it ideas for how to proceed. Have you been given a timescale for the assessment?

tomorrow, i think the SALT lady is coming again. Although I'm not sure since she didn't call to confirm/send a letter/or respond to my emails/letter/voicemail.

At least the house is somewhat clean. blah.
