Hi all, DD2 (18 months) has her first appointment with the Clinical Pyschologist who is based at the CDC. We got the letter today and it says she will come and do a home visit to do a developmental assessment. Anyone any ideas what this will consist of and how long it will take?? Just trying to factor in who will collect other child from school etc and what they will do exactly?? I know this pysch is an autism specialist but just wondered what she will do with DD and how ican prepare for it as i imagine DD will spend the whole time hiding behind her highchair!
thank you

I would allow about an hour (that's how long our sessions were) and for the first session it will probably be them talking to you rather than her, form and questionnaire filling. But this is only going on my experience with my ds. I think they do more stuff with the child in subsequent sessions when they have some background info and the child has met them before so may be a bit more open - not hiding or growling at them! No doubt someone who knows more will say something else but this was my experience.
