Oh feel nervous

Had a letter from the LEA this morning saying they will investigate my request for out of county independent special school for his post 16 placement.
I'm 80% certain it will take tribunal although at the meeting with Inclusion Officer he was very supportive and couldn't suggest any alternative in County so maybe I have a reason to be hopeful.
Hope they are quick with a decision I hate waiting.

am in the same position with dd3s school for september, although she will be 5, just waiting for it to go to panel.

my friend had this and they agreed to send him to the out of county SS , so it is hopefull good luck asdx2 and try not to worry

Good luck. Our LA offered us an independent school as well. I think LAs will agree to pay for independent schools if they agree that all county schools aren't suitable, plus some independent schools aren't a lot more expensive than SS anyway. Do you know how much the placement will cost?

Yes £40,000pa his current placement costs £26,000pa according to LEA but the school have said they no longer meet his needs.The school I want is the one our LEA funds for the children they can't accommodate and it is £15,000pa cheaper than the Independent Special School in County that could be a possibility although I prefer the out of County one.
LIO wasn't putting up a fight at the meeting and he had no alternatives to offer. He acknowledged that ds had had the best support that maintained could offer and that it was no longer enough.
I suppose I am a born pessimist or maybe a realist because nothing has been easy or simple so far.
