My DD is a star

My little DD is she is such a star and has absolutely blown everybody away by her first month at school. She is following circle time and actively participating, she is interacting socially with a little girl in her class, she is making an effort to communicate (becoming much more assertive, less passive, lots of crying but 'meaningful' crying) and doing really well with PECS starting to discriminate between pictures. And she has learnt to properly jump on a trampoline and 'plays' on it for hours independently.
My DD has no verbal communication, can't feed herself and is profoundly affected by autism and learning difficulties. All this, and yet she is getting so much out of life, I am just so proud of her.
I just had to have a little gush, JakBatXXX

aloha · 18/10/2005 12:04

That is just so lovely to read.
You sound so happy and she is doing so well.

MorticiaMerlot · 18/10/2005 12:35

Aw blimey, Jak - your post brought a tear to my eye. Absolutely made up for you and your dd

I think your post hit a chord with me, because ds2 (who is non verbal) - has just started nursery and seems to be getting so much out of it too, despite his disabilities.

ThomBat · 18/10/2005 12:38

That's just brilliant, I'm so pleased, not only that she's doing well, but that she's getting so much out of life, that's wonderful to read, really heartwarming, thanks for sharing, you have EVERY right to be very proud.

Ah JakB that is so wonderful. It's really nice to read such a positive happy post. It sounds like the school she is in is perfect for her - well done mini JakB!

I've been feeling a bit down and overwhelmed by things just recently, but I decided to pop on here this lunch time as I haven't been around for a while and I've read two posts that have really cheered me up and given me a good kick up the backside!

KarenThirl · 18/10/2005 13:04

Nice to read that she's doing so well, and obviously raising your spirits in the process. So pleased she's enjoying herself.

That's lovely to hear, not surprised you're dead proud

bakabat · 18/10/2005 18:29

brilliant JakB. I went to ds1's harvest festival today (it was chaos, buit wonderful chaos) - it lasted just short of an hour and he sat through the whole thing and did his bit (he was a pea). I was staggered. A year ago he hadn't managed a minute in mainstream assembly (literally- hadn;t managed 60 seconds).

So lovely when they're in the right place.

aloha · 18/10/2005 18:31

How lovely Bakabat! A pea! Gorgeous.

ScummyMummy · 18/10/2005 18:31

What a little star she sounds, JakBat. Great post.

ScummyMummy · 18/10/2005 18:33

Oh wow- hadn't even seen the mini bakabat's star turn as a pea. That sounds fantastic.

JakBat · 18/10/2005 18:52

bakabat, that is FANTASTIC!!!! . Really heartwarming. "Wonderful chaos" sounds like my life with DD
