Stat Assessment

Finally I have a stat assessment document from the LA - it tells me they are going to get in touch with docs, EP, school etc. Have a meeting with DS.

What should I expect ? How long should the whole process now take ?

this is good it means they are going to do an assesment this still does not yet mean they will write a statement they will decide this from all the information they collect you should get a reply within 12 weeks of starting the assesment if they are going to write a statement or not see this link

then if when the draft of the statement arrives or a NIL your not happy with this you can appeal PP can help or snap or some other voluntary service in your area to help write your parental views or challenge any aspect of the statement , its nice to have someone in your corner and for advice

Basically the whole process from the initial request for SA till the finalised statement (if it is given) should be done within 26 weeks.

Is this a letter from them confirming they're going to go ahead with a SA? If so, they should provide a timetable for everything - when reports should be submitted, when the panel meets, when the decision will be made. If they havne't provided this ring them and ask for it.

thats right i got an information pack stating all of that automatically but from some peoples posts on here there not always so helpful plus download a copy of the sen code of practice here if you have not been sent one

its long but you will prob need to refer to it or ask PP or a voluntary service for sen near you to give you a copy HTH

Nopoe got nothing but the letter and a documnet they want me to fill in. Will download stuff now.
