I've been wondering that, it's so confusing. My DS2 is on middle rate care but not sure if I should apply for mobility now that he's nearly 3 or not as I'm worried we'll lose the care part.

the changes to DLA don't happen for another couple of years - and there are no plans to change it for children...but given that there were no plans to change disability benefits after the election, they can't be that far off

I'm in denial. I'm hoping that we'll get a new government in before they decide to change DLA for children. Grin That would be me with my head in the sand. LOL

I'm in denial too. I really haven't got any more room in my head to worry about it. We get mrc and lrm for ds and it has been a real help. Our renewal is 2012.

But my dh has lost his job and has only been working temp recently so that is more of a worry atm.

sumum it's unbelievable how we have to prioritise what is the "worst" thing to deal with and go from there, isn't it? DS2's DLA just went through, MRC, and while he technically qualifies for HRC, we are really stressing at this point over getting his statutory assessment paperwork done as well as worries that DH may have bowel/colon cancer, which is taking up all our energy right now. After a long discussion last night, as much as we don't want to, we've decided that we are going to have to pass on the reconsideration for HRC and probably not bother applying for mobility this summer when DS2 turns 5 as we have so much else on our plate right now, we simply cannot stretch ourselves that thin. I'd like to follow it up, but it's just too much right now I think. DH wants to wait until 2013 when renewal will be up for DLA and push for HRC and mobility then if it's still an issue.

i dont know if you have read this...

www.parentsvoice-iw.co.uk/dla-reform-a-summary.aspx

its quite interesting but yes still a worry as i have a disabled husband on DLA too and a car via motability worries me as if say hes taken off/or put on any lower rates we will be without a car and stranded and as on such a low income that no way of saving for a car, scary, how will we get around need the car for my DS ASD too everythings so far from where i live Sad husband cant walk far either doesnt bear thinking about it costs over £5 to go to the supermarket by taxi i wouldnt be able to take husband on bus because of his disability and DS is a nightmare queuing and is not good on public transport
