DS aged 3 with GDD and ASD has his first OT appointment today and I don't really know what to expect. Anyone got any advice?

For assesment the OT may fine and gross motor skills - holding crayons, kicking a ball, sorting shapes and ability to balance, cope with being twirled round, assess for tactile defensiveness or sensory seeking behaviour by using touch, light and sound.

Cynically i'd say you'll then get given a load of badly photocopied suggestion sheets, told parents make the best therapists and then get signed off their list.

we had to pay an independent OT for on-going therapy.

Paddy did most of the stuff outlined by pp and he did some going up and down stairs while being observed.

We were also given a questionnaire to complete around sensory integration.
