you won't believe this well perhaps you might. I have been asking social services for urgent respite care for 10 days now as i'm ill and need a break. Adult services cant help because dd is classed as a child and have been emailing child services daily, child services have been ignoring and closed the case, i now have to wait 2 weeks for an assessment appointment to to see if dd can go on the list for yet another social worker, they call this an urgent appointment

what seems to concentrate their minds is if you say you will be forced to place your child in the care of the local authority. If you can't cope, this IS what will happen, is it not?

If you are in urgent need of respite because you are ill, but you have managed the last 10 days without respite, it will say to them 'she's coping'. If you are going to go under, it will cost them much much more financially, and you much much more emotionally.

Unfortunately, you have to up the ante.

If you were to need a night in hospital they'd have to find an urgent foster placement...

I only got respite for DS[16] when I told SW that I was now considering residential care or supported living for him and I meant it,it had got that bad but in Scotland their under adult services at 16 and she couldn't of been more helpful it all kicked off in January and he went for 3 days this week I'm no longer in the best of health either which doesn't help.

i did tell ss i wanted to put dd into care because i have no food left in cupboards and i can't cope. dd can't leave the house on her own no matter how much she tries as she has phobia i can't go shopping as i'm too ill but they laughed and said well you have got an appointment in 2 weeks be satisfied i have made complaint but thats going to take weeks to process.
