Been awarded DLA

I applied for my eldest and was turned down as there was not enough info, i couldnt appeal as teh letter telling me it couldn't be paid took longer tahn the 30 days I had to appeal! I then thought I wouldn't bother as things had improved a lot but I applied for my youngest and awarded it straight away!

On advice from a professional involved with us I did reapply for eldest just after i applied for youngest as things have started to get worse again and I now have dr reports etc to support my claim. So hopefully I will get some for her this time too, I ahd dr reports for first so I think thats why it was awarded so quickly.

I have mixed feelings though. I feel sad as it maked me think just how difficult things are for him. The money will be such a help though

good luck with your application Filling in dla forms is horrible, you have my sympathies, you always hope your child doesn't really need it.

Agree with bigcar, you do hope that your child doesnt need it. Though it is a great help for extra expense involved when your dc has disability. Hope your eldest dc application gets approved too.

ds2 had his personal care component reduced to the middle rate when i had to renew his application, as they said he didnt need any help at night

this was despite me saying on paper and on the phone that he DID need help at night

the letter giving the ruling was sent out on 16th dec, but i didnt get it until well into january, because of the bad weather, so by the time i sent it back an appeal it was past the month they state as a deadline

i got a letter today from them saying they were reawarding him the higher rate again after receiving my appeal
