:(

have they got a plan to try out in that six months? I just wonder why they are waiting tbh.. You could apply yourself.

kittyfu · 03/02/2011 19:18

sorry to hear about your parents evening, we had ours a little while ago. it was'nt too good. i was just wondering why they are going to wait 6 months to look at statementing, you can ask for statementing to be done when you want.

baileyandtinks · 03/02/2011 19:19

how come they want to wait 6 months someone else is saying on here in a thread they want to get rid of stements i hope there not saying to wait just so as not to have to at all when they replace statementing with goodness know what

kittyfu · 03/02/2011 19:19

Carrotcake beat me to it.

Sod waiting another 6 months as well, statements as well can take at least 6 months as well to set up once the LEA agree.

What year in school is your son currently in?.

Apply for the statement yourself and now. Am sorry if that is a very direct answer (and it is a direct answer) but its the only way forward for both you and your DS.

IPSEA's website has model letters you can use:-www.ipsea.org.uk

There are no plans afoot for LEAs to do away with Statements. These are still being issued.

autumnsmum · 03/02/2011 19:31

thank you all for your honest advice my son is in year one , i wish they had told me about the violence before

Get the ball rolling for the statement asap - it could take 6 months to implement. I don't think this can wait a year on their timescale.

Sorry you've had a crappy evening Sad

Have a virtual hug and get a real treat down you (wine, chocolate, toast n peanut butter...)

bullet234 · 03/02/2011 19:56

Have they at least got him on school action plus with an IEP?

brandy77 · 03/02/2011 20:11

sorry you have had a bad time today Sad

i agree with the others, apply for a statement yourself now, i did, ok i got turned down but ive got a tribunal date for June so will continue the battle. xx

Sorry to hear it was bad at the parents evening. :(

BUT...........did you only find this out this evening?

Does the school not inform you if something went wrong during the school day as it comes?

If not then owing to this I would ask for a home book to be filled in at least you will hear the good and the bad first hand as it happens. I have just started to get one of these and I think it is great info and can be useful in finding the odd pattern to my ds exploding or running off and sorting out some issues as they happen. :)

Why wait 6 months?? Get an appointment properly with the Head or SENCO and ask them this. You never have enough time at parents evenings to let everything sink in intime for you to ask the right questions.

If there is an issue NOW then they should start doing something NOW surely? Confused

Good luck :)

Sorry to hear you had a bad parents eve.

TBH the school shouldn't be telling you that your son is lashing out without telling you how they are managing this, what strategies they are using etc.

And if you feel that you don't want to wait 6 months then you can request statementing.

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 03/02/2011 22:44

sorry you've had a shit day, agree with the others. it is too late to just inform you of the problems, they should strategies in place. hope things get better, go kick some SENCO ass.
