The DO was diagnosed with Diabetes just before Christmas and we are having terrible trouble with their school. Any help/suggestions from the fine body of peeps in here?
In essence the DO is getting to grip with the 4 injections, hypos, hypers and all the poo that comes with Type 1 diabetes and the school now is applying the most ghastly pressure - 3 emails in the last two days in pishy terms asking where the DO's homework is. Am I being unreasonable in asking them to back off? We do begin to feel bullied and that there is some constructive dismissal of our child going on. Any ideas/help on how to deal with this most effectively? We met with the head within a couple of weeks of diagnosis and they rather dismissively stated they'd known a child with diabetes and they 'were perfectly fine with it'. We asked that our dear offspring be allowed leeway with the homework etc and for a few weeks prior to Xmas this was granted - but this term they have piled pressure upon pressure upon the poor soul - to the point that our child is crying and shaking prior to school on several mornings this term. If we could afford to remove our offspring we would, but the penalties are two term's fees which is beyond us, also we are in the run up to CE which makes it a tricky point to withdraw. My gut says they are behaving appallingly and just do not want our child in the school potentially damaging their CE results...
