Anyone??

My twin boys were diagnosed with ADHD back in sep they were 5 n 5 months, and were put on equasym xl 20mg!!
I have read that children should not go on this med until 6 age, also it seems to have stopped working in the last few days they are like 2 different children? Is this normal? They are aggressive and so rude the school are aware of this Too and are worried as am I, does anyone know if this medication stops working after a period of time?

Is this normal? And any advi e?

Thanks for your time, x

My ds is on risperidone to calm him down and make him sleep. Is different medicine from yours however this is only usually for adults my ds is only 10. Any meds my ds has had usually stop working after a few months once his body is used to them, its possible they need the dose upped. Get back onto your gp. Wouldnt worry normally given to kids aged 6 because your twins are nearly that and in normal cases this is only for guidance and the dose they get is probably worked out on their weight. When you get back to your gp he will either up the dose or decide its not working and change to something different. Good luck :)

no experience of this particular med, but would definitely try and phone whoever prescribed it (?paediatrician) to ask for advice. is there anyway they might not have taken it, sometimes kids can be a bit devious, spit out etc.

My ds is on equasym xl. 20mg is a strong dose to start a little one on.

my ds is 7 and on 10mg.
I do think it wears off over time and I have given it a break over the christmas hols and now he is back on it and it seems to be working better than before christmas..

However I have done this without consulting pead as we only have an appointment every 6months or so.
