I've been talking to a few friends who are going through statementing and many of them haven't heard of this, so I though the info may help someone.

The SEN code of practice contains everything you need to help you when you are dealing with statementing and schools. It tells you your rights and you can use a lot of the terminology for the statementing process. I found it really helpful when we got DS statemented. A copy can be ordered free from:

DfE Publications
PO Box 5050
Sherwood Park, Annesley
Nottingham
NG15 ODJ
United Kingdom
Telephone: 0845 60 222 60
Fax: 0845 60 333 60

Or you can download it online at:
media.education.gov.uk/assets/files/pdf/s/sencodeofpractice.pdf

Smile it's a great resource for statementing and throughout sen school life, especially when things go wrong. I don't know why it isn't routinely given out.

Ahhh, but I think it's because the LEAs like you to believe that their own little guides, which sometimes misinform, are the ones to follow Wink

Yes, LA's don't want us to have TMI!
Have sm and am always referring to my on-line copy which has been really helpful. Have just obtained a paper copy to take with me to big meeting this week to put the willies up Senco Grin

Make sure it's well thumbed, with some post it notes sticking up to mark 'relevant pages' Grin and good luck!
