Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

May I ask a question here?

I have also posted in chat but hoped I could also ask here. Can anyone recommend a charity that provides good respite? I have read Riven's thread and would like to give just a tiny bit of practical support but have no idea who to give to. Thank you.

If it's practical support then you can offer to become a 'link family' offering respite to children with disabilities and their families, (this is mostly done by local authorities) it's a long assessment process, but all the people I have worked with who have done it said it was the best and most rewarding thing they did with family. Ring Local Council and ask for Family Placement Team (stress for children with disabilities) good luck.

There's loads of info on www.sharedcarenetwork.org.uk on how to get involved, as well as contact details for schemes in your local area :)
