Oh so sorry I didn't update you all sooner.
I've had a bug in the last couple of days and felt lousy.
Here's a cut n paste of what I put another site (the one I've told you about ) on Sunday:
... My daughter's operation went well and she was ever such a good girl. We arrived home this afternoon and she is now enjoying the luxury of her bed being downstairs (with a commode next to it!)
The consultant managed to get her foot into a good position and did so without a bone graft (which he was proposing to take from her hip). He's popped a couple of screws in and took a few bits of bone off here and there and the job's a good one.
She's a gutsy girl. I slept on a camp bed at the side of her bed and dosed myself with Nytols so that I wouldn't be woken by outside and inside noise, but it backfired on me the night after her operation as I didn't hear her get out of bed to try and get to the loo! We ended up having the foot X-rayed after that episode but luckily no damage was done. Yesterday, she started refusing painkillers of all descriptions so she's now coping with the after effects drug-free! That's her choice - not mine!
The plaster will be on for around 6 weeks and all should be well for Christmas. There is a possibility of a third operation next year (a smaller one) to change the position of the foot from good to perfect, but we'll see how she goes on with this last one first.
I'm in a zombie state - I was going a little stir crazy in the hospital and soooo glad to be home now. But I've not had much sleep so will have to catch up within the next few days...
To update for MN, I still feel zombified and the tummy bug hasn't helped. Thank goodness my mum is with me and helped me get a couple of hours in bed here and there.
Dd's still doing fine but still refusing pain-killers. She doesn't seem to need them though. The latest is she's now refusing to get into her wheelchair so I'm struggling to wash her hair. I'll try again tomorrow - she certainly knows her own mind. Hopefully, she should be back at school next Monday so I can have a week's break before half term.
