Down Syndrome Adoption?

DH and I have always planned on adopting (we have one biological son now and are planning on one more bio child before adopting at least one.) We've always though that we'd adopt from the foster care system here (we're Americans) but now are thinking of going through Reece's Rainbow (a program that matches kids from around the world with DS with adoptive families.) Has anyone adopted a child with DS and if so, what have your experiences been like? Any advice?

I don't have any advice about adpotion (have a ds who was born with Down's syndrome) Have you heard of a parenting forum called Downsyn? Many parents on there have adpoted children with DS through Reeces Rainbow and will have lots of support and advice.

I've looked at RR many times...heartbreaking.

Oh excellent, thank you sonora! It probably wouldn't be for a few years or so (we'll have another bio child first, or try at least) and then adopt when that child's a toddler.

On the RR website there's that quote that says something about, now that you've seen this and know, you can't pretend that you don't or that you shouldn't act (horrible paraphrase there, sorry), but that's how I feel. Those beautiful little faces just haunt me.
