MY daughter is expecting her first child in February and it has been discussed that autism is hereditory and is more prevalent in boys My ds is autistic and my eldest daughter is dyspraxic with some As features. What risk if any is my daughters baby of getting autisic tendencies?

Does your dd who is expecting have dyspraxia?

I have discussed this with my DS psychologists, she said the latest research is that it is genetic.

AS/ASD runs strongly in my family my dad,my cousin, myself,my son and it looks like my baby daughter have it to some extent, but other professionals that i have spoke to say that its familial not genetic so who knows?

It's very hard to calculate the risk, unfortunately, because although there is a very strong genetic component it is hard to generalise across different families. It's not just familial (in terms of shared environment) because the concordance in identical twins is greater than that in fraternal twins. Sadly, there will be no hard and fast answers for your daughter, but at least she can be prepared and get an early diagnosis and early intervention if necessary. It must be hard.

The daughter who is pregnant is not dyspraxic. That is my eldest. My eldeat and youngest children are afected ..my middle two are socalled normal

I'm having similar worries. My sister is severely autistic and we have a cousin with some kind of ASD but I'm not sure exactly what.
DS is almost a year old and I am watching him sooo closely and driving myself slightly mad. Its getting worse as he's reaching the age where problems are likely to start showing themselves.
My mum knew there was something up with my sister from birth (although the docs said she was imagining it!) and my DS shows no signs at all. But you can't help worrying.
