ds is in speech unit is normally picked up by shared taxi at .7,40 as takes about a hour or so to get there

got a text at 6,25 saying that other parents not sending dc today due to weather .We had 1cm of snow if that and even our small lane was clearish just bit of slush
Felt that i really had no choice other than to say will keep ds of to as the other 2 boys werent going in and taxi and escort would have to turn out just for ds

To me i feel that that really eh could have got in pretty easy if not a bit late .What do i do tomorrow if driver says others not going in .especially if no more snow or not a lot .

How do others handle when the taxi driver makes it clear he is not keen on coming out

Their first duty is to safety of the passengers, and so with us I wait till the school say they are shutting. Our taxi driver keeps going till then - he is great! Smile.

btw we are down a dirt track - great for wheelspins in the snow!

All schools open, roads ok think he just not want to come out be ontrsting see what he texted the other 2 parents wonder if he used the same line on them about other parents not sending them

I wouldn't accept the taxi not coming just because the others aren't going in - the taxi should be prepared to transport just one child. DS gets a taxi to school on his own as he's the only one who needs it from the area.

Is there any way to find out from the other parents if they really said they weren't sending their children in?

No as don't know who the other parents are but will chat with ds teacher next week at review unless there's a lot if snow on ground don't care the driver and escort going to have to turn out for him tomorrow even if the others not going

My gut instinct is he has fed us all the same line the others are more in a town area ds is only one on rural lane but is fine cars moving

Would took ds3 myself but not passed test yet and it's 3 plus hrs obnpublic transport

So what would they do if the other kids were sick? Does your ds have to miss school then too? I think not. If the roads were safe then the transport should come regardless.

I think you need a word with the school transport office/coordinator/whoever.
