Opening early as I'm on the wine with dh tonight ( he's actually not working this weekend! Wooopeeee.. Not that you lit aren't good company though).

Almost completed the Xmas shopping... Going to finish off tomorrow... And for all those who are sighing .. December is chocker with appointments for both ds2 and for ds1 .. So I haven't got a lot of actual time left...

Had a really up and down week but ds2 who'd broken down at school today came out quite chipper and has happily gone to his dads for the weekend.

Being in the festive mood dh and I got a christmas carol DVD ( the new one lol because we are children), a couple of bottles in ( because we are also grown ups :)), some mince pies and we are intending to slob out with dd until she goes to bed.. And then slob out some more!

Regroup time!

So join me in relaxed festivities.. Have a glass of bubbly or a smooth brandy and a mince pie!

fartingthebrusselsprouts · 19/11/2010 22:18

Oh and don't worry about the LA spy drones - bet they're all in Star's neck of the woods Smile

moosemama · 19/11/2010 22:20

Grin at 4 times. Based on favourite numbers ds1 would have said infinity! Shock Grin

Oh yes, they have spies everywhere don'tchaknow. Wink

moosemama · 19/11/2010 22:25

ftbs, noooo don't let one off near me. I only get a break from whiffs when the boys are in bed. Grin

Sorry for not getting the name, I have major brain fog this evening.

I heard they have extra-special 'stealth plane drones' for round there. Wink

IndigoBell · 19/11/2010 22:38

Guys, guess what - I have just created my very first iPhone app!!!!

I am the bees knees Grin

woolytree · 19/11/2010 22:40

oooh what does it do? :) Clever you! :)

bigcar · 19/11/2010 22:45

indigo, very impressive, do tell Smile

IndigoBell · 19/11/2010 22:50

It doesn't actually do very much at the moment. :)

I'm just pleased I managed to do it at all....

What I am trying to do is some kind of handwriting app for my DS.

So far all I've got is a circle displayed which he's meant to draw round it. But at the moment it's too hard for even me to draw round Grin

Not sure though if drawing a circle with your finger on an iPhone would in anyway help him improve his letter 'o's in RL?

What do you think? Totally different muscles and so a waste of time?

(His writing is about as good as a 5 year old, and he's 10)

PolarEyesRudolphsNose · 19/11/2010 22:53

Well done Indigo!

I've never actually seen an iphone in the flesh

woolytree · 19/11/2010 22:53

Sounds promising! my DD reacts to tech better than RL so I can see the benefit. :)

bigcar · 19/11/2010 22:56

hmm, currently working on circles rather than straight lines with dd3, so would be good for us, but am on android. It's still improving coordination whichever way I would have thought.

IndigoBell · 19/11/2010 22:57

Wooly - exactly. He refuses to do daily hw practice with me.

But I'm hoping to con him into being a 'beta tester' for my app GrinGrinGrin

After all the PT discussion today I have some ideas... It's just that you don't use a pencil on the iPhone so not sure if he will actually be improving the right thing...

IndigoBell · 19/11/2010 22:58

Bigcar - if I ever do get it working well enough to be useful I'll be able to convert it to android for you :)

bigcar · 19/11/2010 23:00

thanks Smile could you get him to use a ds 'pen' on it would that work?

woolyxmastree · 19/11/2010 23:00

I am unlike DD and rubbish with tech, cant use smart phones or anything similar....maybe a new years resolution! :)

moosemama · 19/11/2010 23:01

I think it would help.

Its not exactly the same muscle groups, but schools get children to use all manner of different methods of forming letters to improve their general fine motor control. (finger painting, writing in sand, modelling letters out of clay/playdough etc)

I would think anything that encourages controlled fine movements of any sort would be helpful and if it can be used to reinforce the right strokes for correct letter formation at the same time, then it will actually work on more than one level iyswim.

Great idea and very impressed that you are able to get something like that to work. I run away from anything more complicated than texting on my phone and wap phones scare the crap life out of me, which is ok cos dh's refuses to speak to me anyway. Hmm

moosemama · 19/11/2010 23:03

Gah, why is it taking so long for me to type tonight? I keep getting left behind.

IndigoBell · 19/11/2010 23:06

I just found out you can buy 'pens' for the iPhone www.amazon.co.uk/STYLUS-PENS-APPLE-TOUCH-IPHONE/dp/B003Y2ZNV2/ref=pd_cp_ce_1

You know what? If I put some hard graft into this, it might actually work....

bigcar · 19/11/2010 23:09

moose, get dh to download angry birds and I swear you'll be hooked! I love big bang theory, that and the IT crowd, the countdown episode was pure genius.

indigo, very impressive, I wouldn't know where to start!

woolyxmastree · 19/11/2010 23:10

Grin Great!

moosemama · 19/11/2010 23:12

Oooo, thanks. I've not heard of angry birds. Bet dh has though, will ask him when he gets home (or rather when he gets over his hangover). Grin

Aw, I love Sheldon! He reminds me of ds1 - only brainier. Grin

woolyxmastree · 19/11/2010 23:20

I was chatting to dh about sheldon being AS the other night! Grin

The countdown episode of it crowd was excellent bigcar! :)
