DLA and School Report....??!!

I have had a letter saying that DLA have asked the school for a report.

Do they ask for a written report or send a form out for them to complete!!

Is it normal to ask the school?

Hi Anna, yes they usually ask school for a report I think. They didn't with my DS as I sent in his latest IEP and report which was used in statutory assessment. (and lots of other paperwork!)

I was talking to the Headteacher and SENCO at my dc school the other day, and they both said they always get a request for a dla report...normal then so don't worry, I am trying not to as I have posted my ds's one in the last week.

I think we didnt get a request because I sent in 6 observation reports from inclusion and a statement from the inclusion teacher.

I sent in his IEP and letter which Nursery teacher wrote to consultant!

I have today sent diagnosis report which states his difficulties as well!! x

DLA asked his nursery. We got mid-rate, and when it came to requesting lower-rate mobility at the age of 5, they didn't need any further evidence, because I think the original evidence was very thorough. So I think them getting plenty of evidence from various sources at this stage can work in your favour in the end.

Fingers crossed!!! I just hope the school don't delay sending it back!!

Also am I allowed do you think to ask for a copy of what they send?

Quite normal to ask school. No reason not to ask teacher for a copy - our sons teacher got in trich to tell me what she was putting down to make sure she didn't forget anything.
