DS1 has waited 6 months for a Social Skills SALT group. We have to travel 15 miles each way, which on public transport takes a good section of the day. He struggles with leaving school at playtime to go to therapy - today we had a full on meltdown.
Of the 6 kids who have, presumably, also waited 6 months for this placement, two turned up today. Including DS1.
Not one of the other 4 parents phoned to cancel - I know things can be difficult and unpredictable, of course I do, but I highly doubt that all of these children had such pressing reasons that even a phone call was out of the question.
Just ARGH, basically. I'm sure he's getting value out of 1-1 sessions, but the point is, it's supposed to be a group session! This happened last year in a SALT group, too, DS1 started as one of 4 and by week 3 he was the only one. What the heck are people thinking?? DS1's friend, who has AS, is in desperate need of this kind of group work, but he has to wait until January... ARGH.
Sorry if IABU, but I am well pissed off.
