DLA reassessment

My daughter was diagnosed with complex social communication disorder. She was given middle rate care component of the DLA. A few days ago at her medical reassessment the specialists gave us the final diagnosis: she has asd. I was told my daughter ( now shes 5) should get the mobility component of the DLA as well (due to her difficulties outdoor). Should I apply or not? Im scared they will take our DLA away, due to the government wanting to make cuts.

I've just gotten lower rate mobility for my DS2 (5) who has ASD. DLA will send the form out, and you only have to fill the mobility part out for it as that is the only part you want them to look at. There is no need for them to look at the care part, and they won't take it off you.

Thanks, thats big help. Im not used to claim benefits and its hard when you try find the info for the first time on what youre intitled to or can claim.

It is hard, that is why I'm so glad of this board, makes it a bit easier :)

Good luck filling out the forms, remember it gets back dated from when you request them.

When DS2 turned 5 we applied for lower rate mobility and we received it without any further need for evidence. I think it's because they'd already harvested plenty of reliable evidence for the original DLA (paed, pre-school, etc) that they didn't have any trouble believing what we said.
