School Transport - AIBU?

Sorry bit long and a bit of a rant!

DS's school bus has been arriving late recently. He's the last pick up, but even so I have my doubts that they make it to school on time - and I know that this week they have been late every day; 30 minutes yesterday.

The gist of it is, is that the LA have stopped taxis for two kids (not sure if it was one or two taxis involved) and they are now on DS's bus because it covers their area. The school coordinator showed me his map with pins in it for the pick up points and it would seem that if the bus was to take a simple circular route I think it would be fine BUT it criss crosses around accomodating parents who have requested a pre 8.30 pick up time; this means travelling along/crossing a busy commuter route not just once but several times.

I know they are trying to resolve it, by putting two kids on another bus but again, it's down to whether the parents wanta pre 8.30 pick up or not.

I didn't even know that parents could request a "Pick up before" time and while I'm sure those who work or who have siblings to take to school appreciate it, but AIBU to think that it should not be at the expense of making all the kids on the bus late?

YANBU my ds2 has been getting a taxi for 5 years thank God best thing he ever did was bite the bus escort!(i am now his official taxiescort) It would take an hour to get to school as the bus just kept going round and around the same routes Dont really have a soloution but i can share your annoyance,Im surprised the school hasn`t said something about it as my ds school hates anyone being late

I don't think the school is happy and their transport coordinator is trying to sort it. A few years ago the school transport and social services transport were merged and they basically ignore the school transport coordinator (and his experience)except when they are dumping stuff on him. They are cutting costs all the time and don't seem to care that the kids education is suffering, if it saves money.

I know this guy in school fairly well as he was ds's driver for 6 years and I'm also a parent governor; I trust that if he says he's trying to sort it out then he will be so I'm willing to let him have another few days to sort it out. After that I will be writing to as many people as I can think of!
