Sorry to be a doofus, but I need to apply for a blus disabled parking badge, but I just can't find out how top do it. I have checked online on my council's website, but I can't even find a telephone number to ring. Does anyone have any experience, and could tell me what is involved in applying? Thank you in advance.

call your county council main number. ask to be put through to the people who deal with blue badge applications.

They send you a form. If you get high rate mobility DLA you get it automatically, otherwise, you have to prove need.

Just ring your local council and they'll put you thro to the right number:)

Usually they send you a form.. if you get High rate mobility you just send the form back with a photocopy of your award letter and a photo and £2.50 (it might be more some councils.. it takes 2 mins to fill the form)

If you don't get HRM you have to ask your GP to sign in and say why it's needed.

It's usually very straightforward:)

we didn't have to pay anything for dd3s. Very little to fill in if you get hrm but need a doctors letters and have to write why you want the badge if not getting hrm. When you do the photos you don't have to get photo booth ones, ones taken at home with an uncluttered background are fine so long as right size.

Ours was free. But they also now ask for various other proofs of address and id. I think it was ds's birth certificate or medical card, something recent and official with his address on like a hospital appointment letter and our council tax notice.

im glad your finally doing it sparkel know hard step but be so much easier for your ds

starfish, I've never understood why I've had to send my council tax bill to the council, had to do it recently for school applications, it's just a bit Hmm It's one of the many little things that bug me Grin

Thank you everyone. I have rung the council and they are sending a form. I am tempted to wait to see if we are successful with the dla before sending it in, it seems much easier to do if he does get awarded the higher rate.
