Band M

I've not been around on here for ages because I'm studying with the OU and, geekily enough, I've been on the study forums. But, I received my son's draft statement today, which places him in band M. I know this makes no sense, but I was expecting to have to fight for more funding for him. I really want him to have the funding he needs, but I found it bizarrely unsettling to see 'band M' next to his name. On the one hand, that's what I'm fighting for, on the other I kind of think, 'how dare you categorise my son that way?'! I really needed to share that with people who might understand where I'm coming from.
