Hello,

I'm just after some advice on what to do/say/ take with me tommorow. I'm taking DD to the GP to ask for her to be referred.

I've moved recently and it's a new GP so I'm abit nervous and I have no idea, So any help greatly welcomed. Not sure if you ladies/ gents need more information re: DD in order to advise?

Write a list of what your worries are (your dd's traits). Try and stay strong and get your point accross.

Good luck xx

Thank you Marne. I've written a list but, I don't know what to expect. What will GP say or ask. Silly I know but, It just seems to be a minefield.

I don't know what your worries are, but usually a developmental paediatrician is the most appropriate person to be referred to.

The school , my mum (my brother has AS) her old nursery and two chilminders have raised concerns and SENCO at school have said they belive she has AS. I am inclined to agree as I have had concerns for about 2 years and have always felt something " wasn't quite right " (I don't mean that in a negative way I just don't know how to word it. ).

I think it would be helpful to stress to the GP how her difficulties are impacting on life e.g. home/school/socially etc.

good luck hope it goes well.

Do you know if there is a ASD pathway in your new area?

It might be an idea to have a quick google and find out exactly what is going on i.e. early birds, Social and Communication Clinic etc.

You GP will probably be unaware of where to start so if you give him/her an idea if may speed things up.

For e.g. I work in a Specialist Children's Centre and we co ordinate the services for younger children along with the local CFCS (CAHMS).

Hope it goes well.

Thanks again.
