my som has had a diagnosis of autism confirmed yesterday, consultant wants him to hav some sort learning /support programme,cant remember what she called it,i no she said he has b under 4 to b put on it,he 3yr,11mth 1 day so just in time for programme she feels will help him xx feel relieved but even though it was expected felt very alone due to being a single parent xx

You have come to the right place if you feel alone. There are loads of great pople with loads of knowledge about ASD on here.
Glad your son can get on the programme hopefully it will help both of you.[hsmile].

Phew, at least you know where to begin now you've got a definite answer, I guess?

As Ineed says, loads of people here who are great to talk with (including a few of us mums who are on the autism spectrum ourselves). And often the local autism charities run parent support social groups etc, so it's well worth finding out where your local one is and making contact with them. The National Autistic Society www.autism.org.uk has links to nearly all of them.

thankyou xx im in nottingham,there a local support group near me which a sure start lady is taking me to in dec (it undergoing refurbishment at mo ) it noing were to start,ive phoned to hav dla forms sent out but not sure of next stage yet,just taking things at a slow pace so as not to overwhelm myself xx
