ASD and skill loss/regression

DS2 (3&1/2 years) was diagnosed high functioning ASD this summer. Since diagnosis he's been losing previously acquired skills at a frighteningly rapid rate. He's now totally incontinent, cannot dress or feed himself, cannot follow simple instructions, cannot handle a pencil. Verbal stimming & repeatedly screaming are increasing as well. I'm worried he may have CDD. Paed has arranged urgent review next week Sad

My DS2 also 3 and a half and ASD loses skills and goes into himslef during periods of change and stress. We "lost" him for 5 weeks when he started at a special nursery in sept he is slowly coming back to us now.

Has anything changed for your DS which could have caused this?

DD loses skills at an alarming rate.

Even forgot how to swim, after getting as far as Level 2, we had to start all over again when she stopped swimming for a couple of months due to illness.

We also have toileting regression during stress, such as starting new year at school. It normally passes in 3-4 weeks.

I just stock up on lots of cheap knickers and wet wipes!
