Statementing Advice

After being offered an unquantified proposed statement, we have a new version offering 20 hours a week support.
The wording they have put in is as follows:

"School provision for (child) should be enhanced by the allocation of Individual Teaching Assistant support for a total of 20 hours per week"

Does this ring alarm bells? In an email the LA have said "It is not appropriate for the statement to detail the allocation of the TA provision, the provision is to support the objectives being addressed"

  • Can anyone offer me advice how to get this wording tighter.
  • We want a specialist TA trained in autism, not the current class TA which I think is being offered, to support our son. How can we get this?
  • How do we prove that the level of support is not enough and get more hours?

Any advice please!!!

To do what? Where is the ITA going to be allocated to? The supermarket?

'DS will receive x hours per week of direct 1:1 support by an TA with at least 2 years experience of supporting a child with autism and who has attended at least 2 days training in the last 12 months, to include direct teaching and support in group situations. Additional time will need to be made available for planning and preparation.'

Something like that?
