statementing: parental pre-submission?

Hi,

I'm new to statementing and have the following query: Do all LEAs require that parents put in a submission before the decision whether to assess or not?

Our LEA has just sent me a form to fill in, asking for the reasons we are seeking a SA.

Should I just copy what I wrote in my original brief letter requesting a SA, where I summarised his education needs, or is the quality/content of this submission as important as the actual parental submission (the one after they decide to assess)?

Sorry for the questions, just getting v confused as I read the SENCOP and thought I understood the process, but don't remember reading about this part, so am wondering if it is just some LEAs that choose to add this part to the process?

TIA

hi bdaonion! I think I will adopt the same approach, and then just re-use the same format if they agree to assess... well done you for doing 10 pages already, I'm still putting it off :)

I did exactly what Bdaonion did. I wrote everything down in a word document and sent that.

Once they decided to assess I then just added in up to date information and submitted it again so they had EVERYTHING.

I also printed copies and gave them directly to anyone who needed it, i.e CAMHS, his paed.
