Ds2 is 2 today!

I cant quite believe it.

Its going to be one of those little ole emotional days today. I never knew that birthdays could bring such mixed emotions until I had Matthew. I'm sure I'm not alone in that - somehow birthdays are such formal milestones when your little one has special needs aren't they?

Anyway here's an up-to-date piccy of my little darling giving me one of his beautiful smiles

What a lovely, happy little face.

I feel the same way about birthdays. I get so upset looking at all the 'age appropriate' toys. It really hits home to me how far behind we are.

Matthew had a lovely birthday. It was a day of sunshine and smiles.

We had my mum and dad over and our close friends who have 2 children (1 the same age as ds1 and one age 3). We had a little birthday cake and managed to sing happy birthday (quietly) so that he wasnt freaked out by it.

Matthew had lots of `Brio' stuff to add to his collection (his favourite toy) and a super fancy car garage complete with cars (another of his favourites).

And on Sunday, to complete the celebrations, we are taking him to a very small gauge open top railway, which is having a `Thomas' day.

The visit to the steam engine place was lovely - quite low key and perfect for Matthew.
