Anyone going? I really want to, but am frantically trying finalize childcare (it coincides with a business trip for dh, which is a shame as he wanted to go too)

Anyway, just wondered whether anyone else was thinking about it?

Are you on ABA-UK, Starlight? There was an email on there recently with links.

There are a group who take a holistic approach to ASD. Primarily ABA, but also look at children as individuals and use whatever they think might work.

Saintlydame used them for a while I know, a few years ago, probably under another name but the stuff should be there in the archives.

Sorry, would link, but am sitting out in my car atm, so on phone.

Is that the one in the first week of November? Think dd1's school might be gping to that one. Although they have said if I go to Growing Minds then they'll probably come along too.

I'm not always convinced by Carbone - tell me more?

Oh, ok Grin

All I know is that our consultant was Not Keen, and that of all the ABA schools we looked at, the Carbone influenced one impressed us the least

Courses/confs are expensive, aren't they? But have been meaning to look up Growing Minds for a while now, so if I can sort the childcare, then i'll give it a bash, I reckon.

9-12 November, I think (still sat in the car - tis bloody freezing out here! But am trialling being away at bedtime for the first time since dd1's sleep went seriously haywire a couple of years ago. Hopefully, if all goes well will be off out for dinner soon Grin)

We did growing minds a few years ago. With sphil :) I very very rarely say this about anything autism related but it was worth every penny. There was a lot of hours for the cash - I seem to remember talks going on until 10pm. Steven and kaitryn are brilliant - partly because they aren't tied to one philosophy so will use 'whatever works' (steven's words) a rather refreshing change from people who insist their approach is the only one.

I wrote a review at the time - will link later.

Thanks, saintly Smile

I remember you talking about it at the time. We nearly changed our holiday in the States a couple of years ago to go and visit Growing Minds, but in the end went with a consultant over here.

Last night's effort was successful with new nanny, so just now need to tackle proper overnight away (ie nanny gets dd1 up in the morning too) and then we'll be set to go Grin

You might want to let them know you might be coming. At the moment they may need to cancel because not enough people have signed up. They don't have huge groups (well they didn't in Woking).

I know, I saw that on ABA-UK.

have sent them an email to say 2 more practically guaranteed to be going (can't see how o wouldn't be going now dd1 has accepted me being away at bedtime), as someone from dd1's school would also be going. Just waiting to see whether its too late or not - hope it can goahead

my review here I hope it goes ahead as well - it is great. I know someone else thinking about it so fingers crossed.
