Back on-line finally.

Just wanted to drop back in and say 'hi'. We have arrived in South Africa and are getting settled. Back to work, kids in school and loving it, our shipping has arrived and we are about to buy a car so we can get around (public transport is not recommended here).

Oh! and by the way somehow in our last week in London amongst all the chaos of packing up and terrorist attacks we managed to conceive!! A little unexpected surprise!

IG!!!! Fantastic news! How exciting. So glad everything is going well

InternationalGirl · 07/09/2005 19:40

Thanks everyone - so glad to be back. I missed you all. Especially have been looking forward to sharing 'the news' . This is #3 and that's enough for us!! Bubba due last week of March 06.

RDI has been incorporated into our lifestyle some. Not actually made a whole lot of progress on doing specific activities but we definitely use the communication techniques and they seem to be working. DD has done really well over the summer, lots more language and has started at a great little mainstream/inclusion school where her main teacher is actually a trained SALT and she only has 7 kids in her class. She also has an LSA who is almost unnecessary because the class is so small but we keep her on anyway just in case.

That's exciting monica2 about the RDI consultant coming - I have a feeling it is going to be quite some time before we get anywhere near a consultant so we are just going to have to 'wing it' for awhile with our own resources and then maybe next summer we might have the ABA therapist come work with DD intensively for about 6 weeks.

Gotta go. Unfortunately we have found internet is limited and expensive here so will try to check back in in a day or two.

Hi there IG!!! I haven't had much regular time on MN, just popping in. WOW, what fantastic news, I'm so pleased for you all. Hope to be hearing more from you, I should be back on MN a bit more now my twice-a-week helper with DD has come back from Oz.

Hi IG, DD is not in nursery and I have just turned down a place for Jan 06. Having help a couple of days a week works great (until they sod off on holiday!). DD and I are going to the Cricket/Ashes victory parade tomorrow, so just think what she would miss out on if she were at nursery
How is the new home/country? Settling in well? And what about T's school situation etc?

coppertop · 18/09/2005 13:31

Welcome back, IG!

Congratulations!

No.3 is due on 23rd March according to the scan. I've noticed that pregnancies on the SN board seem to arrive in 3's so I hope the rest of you are being careful.

InternationalGirl · 18/09/2005 18:21

Coppertop! We are likely to be giving birth within a week of each other!! Pretty sure ours is due 28th March. Hope you are feeling okay - I certainly pushed myself to the limit with all this moving and traveling and being pg and all. I'm going into third trimester now so starting to feel a little better.

Little one not in nursery yet Davros! At least you have the help a couple of days a week. Yep we have settled in pretty well. Hardest thing has been buying a car but we've almost got one - just waiting for one more thing to fall into place - the local govt. Kids have settled into school great except that DD2 had a tummy bug last week and missed most of the week of school. Otherwise she is doing really well - better than some others in the class and none of them have SN.
