I feel really sorry for Dd3 but aibu? On monday the teacher failed to acknowledge her birthday despite that fact that she has a birthday board and Dd3 was wearing an "I am 8" badge. The teacher has a special badge for the children to wear for the day on or near their birthdays, Dd3 was so excited at the weekend about wearing the badge and she looked sooo sad when she came out of school on monday. I asked her why she hadn't told the teacher that it was her birthday but she just said because I didn't.
Then on Tuesday she told the teacher that she hadn't done her homework because it had been her birthday at the weekend and she was busy and the teacher said " a birthday is not an excuse for not doing you homework" fgs she is 8.
Dd3 is so low she didn't want to go to after school club or brownies yesterday, she just wants to sit by me after school.
Do you think it would be unreasonable for me to make a fuss at parents evening tomorow. All this is despite the fact that I have to tackle the HT/senco, now I have got the teacher being mean to her aswell!!Sad.

Poor DD :(

I dont think you are being unreasonable, especially if this isnt an isolated incident.I would mention it to the teacher tomorrow - tell her that DD ws upset.

I can see why you are upset and why your dd is upset. But if you are going in to talk about other very serious concerns I would be wary of muddying the waters by also bringing up the birthday badge / hwk issue.

Hmm see what you mean cansu, although these things are seriously contributing to her not wanting to go to school. I might not mention the birthday thing other than to say that if Dd3 feels routines are being changed at school it stresses her to the point of not wanting to go. Have been awake since 4am trying to decide what to say to her.
Have spoken to parent patnership this morning and they have suggested that I take copies of all the paper work and give it to the teacher if she has not been given access to it by the senco/HT. So we will see how it goes.Hmm

Good luck with the parents evening. I always find it really difficult to balance all my legitimate concerns and problems with dc's provision and the desire not to upset / annoy the teacher. At the end of the day, you have to be dd's advocate and put your assertive head on IYSWIM. :)
