Another statement question, sorry! - objectives

The objectives in dd2's statement are ridiculously vague - would apply to any child anywhere eg. To develop communication skills to meet her potential Biscuit

I've just read a document about improving the way statements are written and in there the egs of objectives are really specific eg. will reach level 2 in literacy by end of year 6.

Am just wondering how objectives are written in other counties - our county is notoriously bad. Is anyone willing to share examples just to give me a feel for how I can re-write dd2's?

It's hard isn't it?

I'm tending to think that the actual content of the statement is more important than spending time faffing about with the objectives. She's going to need a statement for the whole of her educational career. God forbid if we had specific objectives and she achieved some of them - they might try and take the statement away!!

Functionally, I think getting the IEP objectives tight is more helpful.

Any more thoughts?
