We had the ADOS test last Friday (when we got ds's dx). It was a long series of specific questions, plus lots of tests to test interaction, imagination and communications - eg getting out tea parties for dolls, 'what's coming next' type questions (eg here's some birthday cake - what do we need to put on it?), testing eye contact, attention to name, joint attention, pointing out things, etc. I think there are 3 different modules according to the age of the child (and also whether the child is verbal or not). Ds is 3.5, and verbal - we did module 1 and 2 (I think). The whole thing took about 3 hours or so.

the SALT we see seems to do alot of those sort of tests.

Yes it was the SALT who was doing a lot of it - particularly the role playing stuff. The paed was observing that part of it though, and did all the questions.

Shes the "normal" SALT but we see a speciliast one just befor the full assesssment.

In East Herts here, had the CDAC 3 months ago and just as SLM described. Nursery teacher sat in on Paed and parents session while dd was in with Specialist SALT and Autism Advisory worker for 50 mins. Also professionals met before to look at and discuss various reports gathered and then sent us away for 1 hr to discuss findings.

Hi Leonie don't see any reason why they can't give you the results in writing. As you say this would be very useful to other professionals research or not. Hope you eventually get the right support for dd.
