CAF - what information do I need?

I have a meeting with the SENCo this afternoon to fill out a CAF for my son. She's told me that it covers absolutely everything from pregnancy onwards, but just what do I need to be able to put in it? And do I need examples of social behaviour, emotional behaviour etc?

(Have been trying not to think too much about it, but am starting to worry now, really don't want to let my ds down, but this means facing up to stuff as well)

Hi, Not sure if you are aware, but CAF's are also intended as a support to the whole family.

The SENCO should also be checking that your DS has access to clubs and breaks that meet his social needs. She/he should also be checking that you have time out too (and the needs of siblings are also met). CAFs are also a way of accessing training and other types of support too.

Would have a think and take a list along of what your life is like outside of school hours. The CAF should take this into consideration too.

Clubs - check :) (Swimming, kick-boxing, cubs)
Siblings - none (thankfully)
Time-out - I work 20 hours a week, and have Fridays off, does that count?? :)

I should have said he has already been diagnosed Dyspraxic, but we (myself, a friend and SENCo at least) are seriously feeling there is something more as well.

I think my biggest problem is he is my one and only, and until earlier this year I didn't have any way of comparing him to a NT child, so much of what I do with him is ingrained and is our life, I don't know what is and isn't usual.

its not really an assessment tool but should give any proffessional that is working with you, an overview of your current strengths and weaknesses as a family. Your child should have an unmet need for the reason for completing one and should have more than 1 proffessional body involved to use this too.
Dont put anything in youdont want everyone knowing.
