Neuro appt today, feeling stressed about it

DD has an appointment with her two Neurology Professors today, just for a review.

They said on phone they have drawn a blank so I doubt anything bad will be said at the appointment but I feel absolutely sick about going.

I don't know if it's the fear they have missed something bad or the bad memories from the last appointment where we were waiting to hear she had something progressive.

Anyway I am all teary and need a kick up the bum! Sad

i didnt because i was a bit scared, and they didn't leave a message.

The SW felt bad about refusing the respite and kept offering me other free alternatives so it could be one of those?

or maybe they are offering respite

Ha ha!

What were the other free alternatives - were they worth grabbing?

Have you rung back yet??

Sorry, sounds like I'm hassling you now.

You do sound depressed to me (unsurprisingly) so was glad to read you were prescribed some meds.

When you're in that place, making a phone call is a really hard thing to get done I know. It's so easy to put off, especially when it's to people that haven't been helpful. But maybe they've got something sensible to suggest...

was just things like free charity sleep counselling and counselling.

Haven't called as at work, not sure I will though.

Oh - underwhelming suggestions. Counselling can be good though. If nothing else it gives you time to just be you and talk about yourself.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 05/10/2010 14:49

Yes..although I find it quite upsetting to talk about things I am trying not to think about, suppose it's healthier in long term though!

Hi Fanj, how are you? If you feel like the meds are starting to work, although it may be a little while longer, then it might be a opportune moment to go over your feelings with someone neutral. Of course counselling isn't for everyone and I believe some people can work through stuff efficiently and you may not need it. I think the test is if you feel your emotions etc are tripping you up and you feel stuck at a certain point.

I reckon the Neuro was very pleased with pic :)

X

Am not sure they are working yet, or I am still at side-effect stage and feel a bit shaky and strange.

Various stressful things going on at the moment, there is no escape, it seems!

Think I will now start a new thread called "Genetics appt tomorrow, feeling stressed about it"!!

glad you came back with ab update fanjo. I'm sure it is a good sign that your daughter is drawing.

I'm very finished reading George and Sam by Charlotte Moore. Her boy Sam had an autistic regression at five. He lost some skills but eventually learnt others (to paraphrase very badly).

Of course I'm not trying to diagnose your dd but just wanted to remind you of other explanations for the regression which are less scary (though still very worrying).

it's possible, it's probably our best case scenario but she lost other skills than speech and has various features which lead them to believe its something else (posturing with her hands and poor balance)
