absence seizures - question

Hi,

not sure this is the best place to post my question...

DD is 2.5 and we saw GP yesterday as she seems to sometimes switch off and is staring but not responding and then coming back as if nothing has happened. GP will refer us top Paed and he mentioned absence seizures...

DD is otherwise well. just slightly behind in speech (big vocabulary but no sentences).

just wondered what to expect at appointment with paed. what kind of tests should we expect (or demand?)? read that usually an EEG is done but that these often don't show anything abnormal. what then?

also wondered how your children with this type of seizure cope. Can it be treated easily with medication?

thanks!
