To meet DS2's new Paed, as his old one retired. I am dreading it as I hate having to focus on all the bad things and I am feeling really down as it is. I havent had an appointment yet where I havent shed a tear :(.

I dont want to feel like this, I know I need to keep positive for DS2's sake but its so bloody hard.

I am so sorry you are feeling down, I know exactly how you feel. I don't think you should feel bad about crying during the consultation though, if for no other reason than reminding the Paediactrician that he/she is dealing with actual human being!

We are seeing ds's paed rheumatologist on thursday and I am not looking forward to that at all!

I need to keep positive - well yes, but you don't have to be Pollyanna. Obviously there are problems or you wouldn't be in there talking to a pead.

I prefer to be 'realistic' or 'pragmatic' rather than positive. I find it helps me more. But I don't have a negative outlook.

There are hundreds of therapies out there that I haven't tried, and I believe that I can vastly improve DS's and DD's prognosis. But at the moment they have these problems.

For me, it's only by being realistic that allows me to do all the research I need to do and commit all the money and energy I need to commit, to help them improve...

Anyway, hope it's all not too traumatic for you....

Hope it wasn't too depressing for you

It wasnt actually too bad - she was very kind and DS was in a good mood.

She also said that she would support my application for a statement which is fantastic.

Am in a similar situation although we have no dx, the pead we have been seeing for a year has moved on, the SALT referred Dd3 to someone else who is now retiring and referring her on agian. Very worried so glad to hear some one who's had a good experience.
Glad it went well for you.Smile
