muscle spasms- help!!

ds1's muscles have been in spasm since 3am this morning. I massaged him for an hour and thought he'd relaxed enough to go to sleep but no. He's still like it now. All the muscles in his body kind of tense and relax - looks exhausting. He can't really sit- ends up kneeling or lying rigidly.

I think its because we've been housebound for 3 days (no help- and siblings at home so going out impossible), and he's kind of tuned out/lost touch. My mum is in later so will take him out, but anyone else had this? I could try aromatherapy massage maybe?

it he bringing his legs up and stuff when he is lying down? DD does this when she is asleep (well used to all the time) all twitchy and stuff?

the only thing that has stopped is melatopnin. Dont know what to suggest though if it is happening all day, poor soul

He kind of goes into a twisted arch so his back and neck arch (like someone with tetanus!!!!)- if lying down legs are rigid straight but spasming, or if kneeling- just rigid. It's quite common for him to do it for short periods, but this is long!

most probably a totally ridiculous suggestion but does he like warm baths? wouuld that calm him down?

Jimjams · 02/09/2005 09:10

I was just pondering on that! just not sure whether it would send him off as it's the "wrong" time of day for a bath iykwim.

with dd if all else fails it is warm bath and milk, blinking works aswell! and that is usually foillowed by the dave video

hope he calms down soon, poor love

Oh I was going to suggest a bath but didn't think about it being wrong time of day, maybe he'll be so tired and worn out with it he won't mind?
Another aromatherapy massage sounds good.
Other than that....??????
A cuddle on his mums lap with a fav DVD playing????

oh god dave! Watched it yesterday- great - but then got into rewind mode and started going off on one. I took it away and he headbutted the TV!! Yes I should have realised then we were heading this way. I knkew he needed to get out yesterday but there was no way I could manage it. I've had to put on the washing machine again and he's just sitting in spasm in front of it. he needs to go out when my mum arrives, but I can't even think of anywhere to take him when he's like this. I was planning to pop up to a campervan showroom but I'm worried that he's too on edge and won't be able to cope with it.

Oh dear Jimjams, just catching up. What happened?

Jimjams · 03/09/2005 20:57

I took him to see campervans and it helped a bit. He's got slapped cheek at the moment (past the infectious stage- luckily nursery will still have ds2)-so I suspect it's winding him up a bit. i gave him extra magnesium tonight - is meant to be relaxing... Was pretty spasmy in the bath though.
